Volunteers
Houston Hospice has many volunteer opportunities to serve hospice patients and families with caring and compassion. There are also ways to serve in the community and in our office. We love our volunteers and appreciate them as integral team members of our organization. See below for more information and how to apply.

How are our volunteers trained?

These sessions are offered twice a year, primarily at our Texas Medical Center location. Training classes are also held in the El Campo, Texas area.
BECOME A HOSPICE VOLUNTEER
TRAINING
How are our volunteers trained?
Completion of training is required of all persons interested in becoming hospice volunteers, Patient Care and Non-Patient Care Volunteers. These training series are held twice a year at either our Texas Medical Center location or in the El Campo, Texas area.
Our next volunteer training session will be October 2024 in El Campo, Texas.
Houston Hospice’s training prepares volunteers for the challenges of working with terminally ill patients and their families. Topics include:
- Listening skills
- Grief and loss
- HIPAA compliance
- Medical aspects of end-of-life
- Psychosocial and spiritual aspects of care
Hospice volunteers are required to provide a calm, caring presence during challenging situations and we believe our training helps develop these skills.
