Houston Hospice is pleased to announce that the 22nd Annual Spirit Award Dinner will be held Wednesday, October 28, 2020. Dinner begins at  6:30 p.m. at the River Oaks Country Club, 1600 River Oaks Blvd., Houston, Texas 77019 and will be held Virtually. The program concludes at 7:30 p.m.

Honoree

In honor of their grace and generosity, Houston Hospice is pleased to bestow the 2020 Laura Lee Blanton Community Spirit Award to The Garden Club of Houston. Established in 1924, The Garden Club of Houston has supported Houston area green spaces and programs that promote the knowledge and love of gardening. It is their civic leadership and continuous commitment to a wide range of charitable causes that deserve to be this year’s award recipient.

Featured Speaker

New York Times Bestselling Author, Elin Hilderbrand, previously scheduled to speak during the luncheon supporting our Butterfly Program, will be our featured speaker during the 2020 Spirit Award Dinner. With 25 novels to her name and one on the way, Elin inspires with the phrase, “every life contains a novel.” We look forward to hearing more from the Johns Hopkins University and Iowa Writer’s Workshop graduate.

Chairmen

We are thrilled to have Elizabeth and Peter Wareing Chair our 22nd annual event. Elizabeth Blanton Wareing is a longtime friend of Houston Hospice and serves as President of Scurlock Foundation. Elizabeth is the daughter of Laura Lee Blanton, the namesake of our Spirit Award Dinner! Peter S. Wareing is Co-Founder and General Partner of Wareing, Athon & Company, a Houston-based private equity group. Together, the Wareings are an incredible team who help make Houston a great place to live and work. We are so grateful to have them serve as Chairmen this year.
