Butterfly Program

Houston Hospice is uniquely positioned to offer the best possible care to pediatric patients diagnosed with a life-limiting illness. As the longest-serving, nonprofit, pediatric hospice program in the greater Houston area, our team is committed to advocating for their patients and supporting caregivers.
Our nurses are trained to recognize and identify developmental milestones. They play a pivotal role in assisting caregivers with making informed decisions about their child’s care. The team monitors the patient’s status and coordinates changes with the physician and family. They help educate family members by talking through the plan of care and serve as a resource for the caregivers. Our pediatric team also provides emotional support for parents, siblings and other loved ones.
Concurrent Care
The Butterfly Team works with pediatricians, specialists and hospital teams and are an integral part of the patient’s palliative care plan.
Nurse-Driven
Our pediatric nurses are with each patient every step of the way from the initial informational meeting to daily symptom management and coordination of care. They ensure continuity of care for our most vulnerable patients.
