Emergency Weather Alert Information

Houston Hospice is currently operating at normal status.

Alert information for employees also is available by calling 713-677-7290. The main number to call in the aftermath of a storm is 1-800-339-1180 x694 on weekdays and 1-432-686-6194 after hours.

Operational Status Indicators

Normal Operations
  • All managers and employees assigned responsibilities for hurricane/severe weather and emergency planning and implementation are required to assess, review and prepare plans to ensure a constant state of readiness.
Severity Level 1
  • Localized actions may be required; actions may be restricted to an area, department or group.
Severity Level 2
  • Houston Hospice will be open for all business operations, including accepting admissions
  • All employees will report to duty as scheduled
  • Notification will be made to appropriate management and field operators
  • Alert Line will be updated
Severity Level 3
  • Nonessential employees may be released from duty or may not report for work
  • Incident Command Center will be activated
  • M.D. Anderson will usually be open for all scheduled patient appointments (Note: Some nonessential employees may be re-designated as essential to carry out clinic visits if necessary.)
  • Notification will be made to appropriate management and Emergency Plan Officers (EPO).
  • Alert Line will be updated
Severity Level 4
  • All patient appointments will be cancelled. Typically, this level is only necessary during a hurricane or severe emergency conditions.
  • All operations are coordinated by the Incident Command Center
  • Essential employees are released from duty when the Ride-Out Teams have taken over the operations of the institution. This is applicable to hurricanes only. Essential employees are not released from duty during other emergency conditions.
  • Notification is made to the appropriate management and the EPOs
  • RING and EPO lines are updated
