Programs – Bereavement SupportHouston Hospice has a long-standing reputation in the community as a caring provider of physical, emotional and spiritual well-being while a family faces the final stages of a loved one's life. Our nurturing philosophy and our focus on the family makes Houston Hospice uniquely qualified to provide bereavement services to children, teens and families dealing with grief after a death. Houston Hospice offers a variety of bereavement support services that are open to the community at no charge. Our community bereavement services include ongoing support groups for adults as well as time limited support groups for both adults and children. Our on-going groups meet twice monthly at various locations in our service area. These groups are open format and provide support during the grieving process. These groups are facilitated by staff and trained volunteers. Grief is a natural part of healing after the loss of a loved one. We invite you to come share, listen and be with others who understand. Our time-limited groups include: Life After Loss - A six-week program that provides both education and emotional support to any individual who has experienced a loss through death. These sessions are open to the community at no charge. Pre-registration is required. Life after Loss was developed by the American Cancer Society. Wings - A five-week peer support program for children, teens and families. Wings provides groups for children ages 5-18. This program offers emotional support and education to any child who has experienced loss through the death of someone significant in their lives. A group for parents and/or guardians is held concurrently. Pre-registration is required. Holiday Workshops - Two-hour presentations entitled "An Empty Place at the Table" are provided each year during the Fall months.
